In the afternoon of December 4th 1956 Elvis Presley visited sun studios, with then girlfriend Marilyn Evans and ended up listening to Carl Perkins latest record. Elvis then joined Perkins in the studio where Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis had also ended up. The group began to jam and an engineer by the name of Cowboy Jack Clement had the foresight to record the session. Their is some controversy as to whether Cash was there but a photo by the Memphis Press- Scimitar clearly shows Cash, although the recordings do not provide enough conclusive evidence that he joined the jam.
